Healthy skin cells contain protons, neutrons and electrons. UV radiation, pollution, exposure to chemicals, smoking, however, all cause damage to these healthy skin cells making them lose an electron. That damaged cell must now find a new electron to become stable again. It does so by stealing an electron from a healthy cell, which in turn steels an electron from another healthy cell and so on and so on until a vast majority of cells become damaged.
